This coffee from Ruvumu hill sits right alongside Burundi’s national rainforest, which has an incredible impact on the climate that these coffee trees grow and mature in. At the station level, where the surrounding farmers deliver their coffee cherry, this lot is Fully Washed, undergoing a double fermentation washing process. Fermented for 12+ hours dry and then again for 12+ more hours wet, the result is a super clean and crisp cup.

Burundi coffees are near and dear to us at Liaise. Burundi is where our founder got his start in the farming, processing and exporting world of coffee at the origin level starting back in 2014, while living and working for a coffee producing company there. Since then, Jake has spent the past several years buying Burundi coffees for different companies and importing them to create a market for these farmers to sell them to roasters.  And now, to roast and supply them from Liaise is a special return, back to where it all began.

How should I brew?

We think you should brew any way you like. But if you're looking for recommendations, a 1:16 ratio of coffee to water is our favorite. 60g/L is good too, if you're into that.

Grind your coffee fresh at a medium-ish grind size (depending on your brewer), heat up some nice water, and you're most of the way there.

If you're using a V60, 20g of coffee to 320g of water is great, and it's helpful to have a pouring kettle. Bloom, wait, and then pour high and in a steady stream for a nice extraction.

If you're using a batch coffee maker, 60g of coffee to a liter of water is just right. Brew it up and let it rip.

What should I do with a Liaise Coffee Bag Clip?

Yes, our 12oz coffee bags are resealable. BUT if you get a 5lb bag, it is not resealable. If you decide to go big with a 2lb or 5lb bag from Liaise, the bag clip is a perfect tool. Just remember, the Liaise Coffee Bag Clip is NOT a chip clip. It's a coffee bag clip.
